I recently appeared as a
guest on Seattle’s National Public Radio station KUOW’s
Weekday program. The topic of the program was the
potential ramifications of a recent court decision
invalidating certain portions of patents held by Myriad
Genetics on the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. This topic,
focusing on whether or not genes should be patentable,
led to an interesting discussion among the panel members,
which also included Jon Izant of Sage Networks, Ulrich
Mueller of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center,
and Andrew Serafini of Fenwick and West. The segment
aired on March 29, 2010. You can listen or download this
program from KUOW.org’s website using this
